Joseph John Gerry

Joseph John Gerry, OSB ( born September 12, 1928 in Millinocket ) is Bishop Emeritus of Portland.

Life

Joseph John Gerry joined the Congregation of the Benedictine and received on 26 July 1959, the ordination.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 4 February 1986 Titular Bishop of Praecausa and Auxiliary Bishop of Manchester.

The Bishop of Manchester, Odore Joseph Gendron, consecrated him on 21 April of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were Ernest John Primeau, Bishop Emeritus of Manchester, and Robert Edward Mulvee, Bishop of Wilmington.

On December 27, 1988, he was appointed Bishop of Portland and introduced into the office on February 21 of next year. At February 10, 2004 John Paul II participated in his old conditional resignation.
