Joseph M. Warren

Joseph Mabbett Warren ( born January 28, 1813 in Troy, New York, † September 9, 1896 ) was an American politician. Between 1871 and 1873 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Joseph Mabbett Warren was born during the British - American War in Troy and grew up there. He attended local schools and 1827 the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy. In 1834, he graduated from Washington College (now Trinity College) in Hartford (Connecticut). He worked for a year as a clerk in New York. Then he returned to Troy, where he for several years operated a grocery wholesaler. In 1840 he had a wholesale of hardware products (hardware ). He held the post in 1852 by the mayor of Troy. From 1853 to 1865 he was a director of the Bank of Troy and the United National Bank of Troy, as well as President of the Bank of Troy. He held the position as a trustee at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. 1855 he was appointed representative ( commissioner ) of Troy Water Works Company - a position which he held until his retirement in 1867.

Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1870 for the 42nd Congress Warren was in the 15th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Adolphus H. Tanner on March 4, 1871. Since he gave up for reelection in 1872, he retired after the March 3, 1873 out of the Congress.

After his conference time he went to Troy after his former business activities. On September 9, 1896, he died there and was buried in the Warren Chapel on the Oakwood Cemetery.
