Joseph Maria Pernicone

Joseph Maria Pernicone (* November 4, 1903 in Regalbuto, Province of Enna, Italy, † 11 February 1985) was auxiliary bishop in New York.

Life

Joseph Maria Pernicone received on 18 December 1926, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

On April 6, 1954, he was named by Pope Pius XII. Titular Bishop of Hadrianopolis in Honoriade and auxiliary bishop in New York. The Archbishop of New York, Francis Cardinal Spellman, donated to him on 5 May of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops in New York, Joseph Francis Flannelly and Edward Vincent Dargin.

On November 28, 1978 Pope John Paul II accepted the argument put forward by Joseph Maria Pernicone resignation for reasons of age.
