Joseph Marmaduke Pratt

Joseph Marmaduke Pratt ( born September 4, 1891 in Paterson, New Jersey; † July 19, 1946 in Washington DC ) was an American politician. In the years 1944 and 1945 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Already in 1892 Joseph Pratt came with his parents to Philadelphia, where he attended the public schools and some trade schools. Then he studied until 1919 at the city's Temple University. He later worked in the industry, where he maritime products produced among others. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1937 and 1946 he was in Philadelphia board member of his party.

Following the resignation of Mr James P. McGranery Pratt was chosen as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington at the due election for the second seat of Pennsylvania, where he took up his new mandate on 18 January 1944. Since he has not been confirmed at the regular election in the same year, he could only finish the current term in Congress until January 3, 1945. This period was marked by the events of the Second World War.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Joseph Pratt took his previous activities on again. He died on July 19, 1946 during a business trip to Washington.
