Joseph Nguyễn Tích Đức

Joseph Nguyên Tich Duc ( Vietnamese: Joseph Nguyen Tich Ðức, born February 22, 1938 in Ðông BUT, Duy Tiên district, Ha Nam Province; † 23 May 2011) was a Vietnamese priest and Roman Catholic Bishop of Ban Me Thuot.

Life

Joseph Nguyên Tich Duc studied from 1958 to 1968 at St. Pius X Pontifical Academy in Đà Lạt and received on December 21, 1967 by the first Bishop of Ban Me Thuot, Pierre Nguyên Huy Mai, the ordination. From 1968 to 1986 he was a teacher in Lê Bảo Tinh. From 1986 to 1997 he worked in the diocesan leadership.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 21 April 1997 coadjutor bishop in the Diocese of Ban Me Thuot. He received his episcopal consecration on 17 June 1997, the Bishop of Ban Me Thuot, Joseph Trinh Chính Truc; Co-consecrators were Paul Nguyen Van Hòa, Bishop of Phan Thiêt, and Paul Huynh Dông CAC, Bishop of Quy Nhon. Following the resignation of his predecessor Joseph Trinh Chinh Truc on December 29, 2000, he succeeded him in the See of Ban Me Thuot.

His resignation was May 17, 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI. granted.
