Joseph Nigg

Joseph Nigg (* October 13, 1782 in Vienna, † September 19, 1863 ) was an Austrian porcelain and flower painter.

Life

Joseph Nigg studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Johann Baptist Drechsler. 1804 and 1806 he was awarded first prize at the Academy in Vienna. Between 1800 and 1848, when he retired, Nigg worked at the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory, in later years as a teacher. From 1824 he took several times and successfully participated in the annual exhibitions of the Vienna Academy.

Performance

Joseph Nigg was one of the outstanding Austrian floral painter. He created in this genre not only highly prized porcelain painting, but also oil paintings, watercolors and pastel drawings of high quality.
