Joseph Sweid

Joseph Sweid (also Suwayd, born 1958 in Damascus ) is since 2011 one of the Syrian Minister of State and member of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party ( SNNP ). He served in the Council of Ministers previously as Minister of Expatriates.

The Greek Orthodox Christian received his Bachelor of Laws in 1983 at the University of Damascus and subsequently worked as a lawyer. He became in 2003 a member of the People's Council and was re-elected in the parliamentary elections of 2007 and 2012.

Sweid is married and has two children.
