Josh Turner

Joshua Otis " Josh " Turner ( born November 20, 1977 in Hannah, South Carolina) is an American country singer. He had by 2010 four number-one hits on the country charts.

Career

Josh Turner grew up in rural South Carolina in the southern United States and sang as a child in the Union Baptist Church in the church choir. His grandmother brought him close to country music, from Southern Gospel Quartet of Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings to bluegrass musicians such as The Stanley Brothers. Later he sang in a gospel quartet occurring in South Carolina called Thankful Hearts. After graduating from high school he attended Belmont University near Nashville, which has one of its focal points in musical training.

2001 Turner was allowed to occur with his song Long Black Train at the Grand Ole Opry. In 2003 he received at MCA Nashville a record deal and released the song as well as the eponymous album. The latter reached No. 3 on the country albums charts, a total of 75 weeks held there and sold in less than a year a million copies.

With his second album Your Man Turner could build on this success in 2006. In the country charts, it reached # 1 on the Billboard 200 and space 2 singles Your Man and Would You Go with Me reached # 1 on the Hot Country Songs. After half a year a million albums were sold; another half a year later it had reached double platinum. The two singles were as his debut single Long Black Train awarded with gold. At the Grammy Awards in 2007 he was nominated for two awards.

After this great success already came out in the fall of 2007, the third album Everything Is Fine. But despite the high rankings it remained overall behind the success of its predecessor. The first single of the album, Firecracker reached number 2, the second titled Another Try, a duet with Trisha Yearwood, reached number 15 on the country charts.
