Joshua Altheimer

Joshua Altheimer (* 1910 in Altheimer, Arkansas, † February 18, 1940 in Chicago) was an American blues pianist.

Joshua Altheimer was from 1937 to 1940 constant companion of Big Bill Broonzy, but at the same time took plates with other blues singers on how to Sonny Boy Williamson I, Jazz Gillum, Lonnie Johnson, Washboard Sam and Yas Yas Girl ( Merline Johnson alias ). Altheimer is considered an important Blue pianist of his time, who influenced some of Chicago pianists Memphis Slim.
