Joubertin

Joubertin ( synonym: Jaubertin, Pinot Joubertin, Plant d' Aix, Plant de la Claye and Plant de la Mure ) is a red variety. It comes from the French Savoy ( see also the wine region Savoie). The yielding variety was prevalent earlier far, today it is only rarely encountered. In the appellation Vin de Savoie she is one of the approved secondary varieties.

Acquaintance they should, however, be in Argentina. She was discovered in 1835 by winemaker Joubertin in a vineyard in La Claye at Grenoble. Until the outbreak of phylloxera in the 1870s, the species was also planted in Burgundy. There was one of the variety the name Pinot Joubertin, a name that has survived to this day in Argentina.

The grew strong variety matures about 15 to 20 days after Chasselas and produces deep, dark red wines, which are often used for blending because of their neutral character.
