Journal des sçavans

The Journal of the sçavans, founded by Denis de Sallo, was the first scientific journal, which was published in Europe.

The published on January 5, 1665 the first issue of the Journal had 12 pages. The journal was therefore published a few months before the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society in London.

After the French Revolution, the focus of the Journal of the science changed to literature. 1816, the Journal of sçavans in the Journal des savants has been renamed.
