József Szakovics

József Szakovics ( German: Joseph Sakovich, Slovene: Jožef Sakovic, * to February 2, 1874 in Vadarci, Hungary, now Slovenia, † September 22, 1930 in Unterzemming, Hungary) was a Slovenian author of prayer books and Catholic priest in Hungary.

Szakovics was born in Vadarci ( Tiborfa ). He attended secondary school in Kőszeg and Szombathely, where he continued his studies at the seminary. On July 2, 1899 he was ordained a priest. In the first four years after that, he was a chaplain in six municipalities operates in Pápóc in Zalaegerszeg, in Weiden ( Bandol ), in Črenšovci ( Cserföld ) in Tishina ( Csendlak ) in Cankova ( Vashidegkút ) in Beltinci ( Belatinc ) in Rechnitz ( Rohonc ) and Unterzemming ( Alsószölnök ).

As chaplain of Tishina he gave in 1904, the newly revised prayer book of Miklós Küzmics ( Nicholas Küzmitsch ), the Molitvena kniga out and started for the yearbook Calendar srcA Jezušovoga ( Calendar of the heart Jesus) to write.

In Beltinci he revised the Slovenian Catechism ( Katoličanski Katekizmuš ). In the villages of the municipality Turnišče he built five schools and was elected president of all school boards of the municipality appointed. In Turnišče and Polana ( Nagypalina ), he had a new church building. In Unterzemming he left the church, the rectory and then renovate even the bell tower in 1928. József Szakovics was twice in Unterzemming active: 1909-1913 and from 1924 until his death on 22 September 1930.
