Velika Polana

Velika Polana is a municipality in the Prekmurje region of Slovenia.

In the overall community consisting of the three villages Brezovica, Mala and Velika Polana Polana 1,520 people live. In the main town of Velika POLENA it has 914 inhabitants. The municipality is located in an area with marshy lowland meadows near the borders with Hungary and Croatia.

Velika POLENA was awarded by the Foundation € nature of the title European Village of Storks 1999. Since 17 February 2005, a stork is depicted in the new coat of arms of the municipality.

Worth seeing are the Sacred Heart Church and the Memorial House, with the resulting study, the Slovene writer Miško Kranjec.
