Andrid

Andrid (Hungarian: Érendréd ) is a municipality with 2681 inhabitants ( 2002) in Satu Mare in northwest Romania.

Geography

The parish includes the villages Andrid ( administrative seat 1321 people), Dindesti ( 800) and Irina ( 560). It is located in the southeast of the circle area in the Someş lowlands along the banks of the river Ier, an influx of Barcău, 24 km south of Carei and 59 km southwest of the district capital of Satu Mare. In the west the municipality borders on Hungary.

Particularity

Andrid is since 1997 European stork village. 1997 37 breeding pairs were counted after various protective measures, compared with 17 in 1984 will Nested mainly on electricity pylons, the foraging takes place on the extensive wet meadows.; the stock increases significantly since 1994.
