József Takács

József Takács (* June 30, 1904 in Budapest, † September 3, 1983 ) was a Hungarian football player. The striker could be five times Hungarian scorer and led Ferencvaros in 1928 to victory in the Mitropa Cup, the forerunner of the European Cup competition.

József Takács played from 1917 to 1926 at Budapesti Vasas in the highest Hungarian league. After he was able to draw attention to themselves as top scorer of the championship in 1926, József Takács moved a season later to Ferencvárosi Torna Club, one of the then leading football clubs in the country. In his first year with the "green eagles " he could instantly win the 1928 Hungarian Championship and top scorer again, he was known in particular for his appearances in the Mitropa Cup 1928.

József Takács reached with Ferencvaros the final, where he met the previous year's finalists SK Rapid Wien. The first leg in Budapest could be gained significantly 7:1, where he scored three goals. The return match in Vienna went 5-3 at Rapid, which was enough to win the title for Ferencvaros. With 10 goals in the entire competition József Takács was also able to accept the honor of the best scorers. The striker remained until 1934 when the Green-Whites active, could still two more times champion and three time scorer. 1932 get him 42 goals in a season, Ferencvaros was also able to win all 22 championship games. His batting average in the National Dress ( 26 goals in 32 operations ) was impressive; France goalkeeper Maurice Cottenet declared in 1927 his resignation from the Équipe Tricolore after Takács had overcome him six times in the 13-1 victory alone.
