Jørgen Kristensen

Jørgen Kristensen (born 12 December 1946 in Hedehusene, Denmark ) is a former Danish football player.

Career as a club player

Kristensen began his professional career at Køge BK. In 1968 he moved for a season in the United States to the Detroit Cougars. He then returned to Europe and joined the Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam, where he acted for four years as a regular player. In 1972, he then followed the call of the great local rivals Feyenoord Rotterdam. After four successful years - among other things, he won the UEFA Cup and the Dutch Cup in 1974 - he signed in 1976 at the Bundesliga Hertha BSC. While in Berlin Kristensen was a regular player, he was after the season 1977/78 a new contract because he wanted to continue to go after every league game for two days to his still living in Dänermark family. The new Hertha coach Kuno Klötzer did not accept this and so, Kristensen for half a year to the Danish Club Næstved BK.

In 1978 he was engaged by the Chicago Sting for two years. According to the Tulsa Roughnecks stations and Calgary Boomers in Canada, he ended his career as a professional football player. 1981, Kristensen moved to indoor soccer. For the Wichita Wings and the Kansas City Comets, he ran to a total of 214mal, scoring 79 goals. With its 271 Assists, he is also the tenth best rigger in the history of Major League Soccer.

Career as a national player

In June 1971 Kristensen debuted for the Danish national football team, where he was part of the squad until 1973. After that, he was not nominated until 1976 because of strong competition. When he moved to the U.S. in 1978, he ended his international career due to the distance. Overall, he played 19 times for the national selection of Denmark and scored three goals.
