Juan Álvarez

Juan Nepomuceno Álvarez Benítez ( born January 27, 1790 in Santa María de la Concepción Atoyac; † August 21, 1867 in Acapulco) was dated 4 October to November 12, 1855 interim president of Mexico.

He was a landowner of Indian descent. He supported a 1811 (unsuccessful ) campaign for Mexico's independence from Spain. He was also involved in the revolt of 1822 /23, which had the fall Agustín de Iturbide result.

1847 Álvarez fought against the United States.

Two years later he became governor of the new state of Guerrero. When Antonio López de Santa Anna 's rule was reconstructed in 1853, Álvarez ' position was not compromised. It was not until 1854 he revolted against Santa Anna, who wanted to seize power in Guerrero.

After Santa Anna had fled into exile, Alvarez took control of the government. But he soon entered in favor of Ignacio Comonfort, his ally in the fight against Santa Anna, back.

His reign was the beginning of a liberal direction - later known as " La Reforma " known, which had its peak in the Constitution of 1857.

According to him, the airport in Acapulco was named.
