Juan de Arphe y Villafañe

Juan de arfe (* 1535 in León; † around 1603 in Madrid) was a Spanish goldsmith and sculptor.

Juan de arfe learned the goldsmith's art from his father, Enrique de arfe in Leon, then worked as a goldsmith in Salamanca, Toledo, Valladolid and as Master of the Mint in Segovia, to Philip II in 1596 appointed him to Madrid, where he among other bronze statues for the Escorial anfertigte.

His main works are the tabernacle for the Cathedral in Seville, Avila, Valladolid and San Marlin in Madrid. In addition, he gave 1585 books " Quilatador de oro, plata y piedras " and " Varia commensuracion para la arquitectura y escultura " out.
