Juan Dolio

Location of Juan Dolio in the Dominican Republic

Juan Dolio is a spa and tourist resort in the province of San Pedro de Macoris on the south coast of the Dominican Republic. Juan Dolio has 2,488 inhabitants (2010) and belongs to the district of the municipality of Guayacanes.

Geographical Location

The former fishing village of Juan Dolio is located on the Caribbean Sea, and extends over a length of about 7 km on either side of the site by cutting connecting road Avenida Boulevard along the coast. About the Boulevard you can reach both the west and in the east the highway 3 Autovia Del Este bypasses the place in an arc to the north.

The distance from the lying to the west Juan Dolius state capital Santo Domingo is about 50 km and the provincial capital of San Pedro de Macoris is located about 12 km to the east. While mainly encountered wide pasture and fallow land and sugar cane fields in the north and east of the village, Juan Dolio closes in the West almost seamlessly from the community Guayacanes. Also to the west lie the tourist resort of Boca Chica (about 23 km), and the Las Américas airport (about 30 km).

Infrastructure

The El Pueblo center of the elongated village is located near a bay of Playa Juan Dolio, which is also used by the few remaining local fishermen for landing their boats.

In the north- west of the village lies the village Mar Del Sol, in the north of the gated residential community of Metro Golf & Country Club is located and to the east of the district of Villas Del Mar joins. The West Juan Dolius borders the neighboring community and simultaneous seat of the district administration, Guayacanes.

The village is crossed by a parallel to the beach running main street, Calle Principal. Along the western navigable only by eastbound road there are cars on weekends from numerous smaller businesses, such as Restaurants, bars and inns, as well as mainly smaller, however, sometimes some multi-storey, residential buildings.

At the eastern end of Calle Principal of the newly emerged in the last two decades the district of Villas Del Mar, in which the two major hotels of the resort's begins. Financially strong investors took in the past repeated investment properties in Villas Del Mar for their projects and the zone is characterized by, partly still under construction, modern skyscrapers and some of luxuriously appointed residences.

While the Playa Juan Dolio is publicly accessible and equipped in the town center with parking, can the beach in Villas del Mar, Playa Real, not be freely viewed, but is delimited by hochgeschossige houses from the main road.

All sections of the beach in Juan Dolio were renewed in winter 2006/ 07 by expensive government projects and primarily on weekends enjoying a growing number of visitors.
