Juan Ramón de la Fuente

Juan Ramón de la Fuente Ramírez ( born September 5, 1951 in Mexico City) is a Mexican physician, politician and former rector of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México ( UNAM). He also served as Secretario de Salud ( Health Minister ).

Biography

De la Fuente, son of the physician Ramón de la Fuente, completed his medical studies and the training of surgeons at the medical Fakultär UNAM, whose director he was later also. Later he trained in the United States continue to see a psychiatrist.

He is a member of the Colegio Nacional since 1972. From 1 December 1994 to 17 November 1999 he was PRI politician Minister of Health from 1996 to 1997, President of the Academia Mexicana de Ciencias. On 17 November 1999 he was rector of the UNAM and held this office until 16 November 2007.
