Judicial Yuan

The Judicial Yuan (Chinese司法院, Pinyin Sīfǎyuàn ) is one of the five Yuan (Council of State ) of the Republic of China on Taiwan in Taipei and a monitoring authority of the government. There are also Yuan for the legislative, executive, control and testing. The Constitutional Court (Chinese大法官 会议/大法官 会议, Pinyin Dàfǎguān Huiyi, English Justices of the Constitutional Court ) has 15 members with the task of interpreting the Constitution of the Republic lawful and is in accordance with the separation of powers similar to the German Constitutional Court. The President and the Vice - President of the Judicial Yuan are determined by the President. The term of office of four members of the yuan, together with the President and the Vice - President shall be four years, the remaining nine members remain for eight years in office.

The Judicial Yuan also supervises all other subordinate courts as the " Supreme Court ", the " high courts ", the " district courts ", the " Administrative Court " and the " Committee on Public disciplinary proceedings ".

The district courts deal with cases in the first instance, the high courts deal with appeals and the Supreme Court is the final authority for appeals. The High Courts are used " deliberate attacks against the Republic of partnership relations with other countries," only for charges for " rebellion ", " treason " and. The Supreme Court does not deal with constitutional challenges.
