Judit Elek

Judit Elek ( born November 10, 1937 in Budapest) is a Hungarian writer and director.

Life

A graduate of the University of Drama and Film in Budapest initially worked primarily as a documentary filmmaker. From the 1970s they increasingly had the opportunity to make feature films. This deal frequently with Jewish themes and those of anti-Semitism. Her most famous film ( 1989) ( Tutajosok, English: Memories of a River) deals with the ritual murder trial of the affair of Tiszaeszlár, the 1882-83 became the starting point of a wave of anti-Semitic propaganda in Hungary. Elek is the winner of Béla Balázs Prize and other high honors.
