Jugend jazzt

Youth is jazzt a Germany-wide German music competition for youth and young adults up to 24 years to promote particularly talented young people. Young musicians and their bands have the chance to showcase their skills in front of the jury and audience to the test. Jazzt Youth Jazz counterpart is making music for youth competition.

The competition is intended for jazz ensembles of two to ten participants. He is first held at the country level; there wearing the ensemble forward several pieces of music which are then judged by a jury. Beginning in 2010 will be admitted to the competition also big bands with eleven or more contributors. The first prize winners of each state then compete on a national level. These federal meeting is conducted every two years in a different city. So since the establishment of " youth jazzt " in the year 1997 were competitions in Dusseldorf (1997), Rostock (1999), Erfurt (2001 ), Bonn (2003), Koblenz (2005), Halle (2007) and Hanover ( 2009) instead. Apart from the actual competition event acts "Youth jazzt " also as a festival, concert stage, contact and information exchange, as well as workshops and seminars are offered.

Winners of the competition is the German Music Council, major sponsors include the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and Germany radio.
