Juglot

Juglot or Jaglot is a town in Gilgit district in the autonomous territory of Gilgit- Baltistan, the former Northern areas of Pakistan. Juglot located 45 kilometers south of Gilgit on the Karakoram Highway.

Importance and location

Juglot is an economically important city of the territory. Juglot has next to Gilgit to the other six districts ( Skardu, Ghanche, Ghizar, Hunza Nagar, Diamir and Astore District ) of the autonomous region of Gilgit -Baltistan economic relations. The city has the largest deposits of oil, wheat and flour in the region. The town and the surrounding villages have approximately 27,000 inhabitants with 3,000 houses. 33 percent of the population have a school education, which is considerably above the average in northern Pakistan.

Villages

Juglot comprises 15 villages: the village Damote has importance because of its summer pastures for cattle, at Chakarkot and Pahote is the intersection of three important mountain ranges, the Karakoram, Himalayas and the Hindu Kush. Also Sabil, Shumrote and Jagot is Chakarkot named.

Resident

The population of the village consists of about 30 percent Shin, including the Koliwalshin ( Gabare and Chillisso ) and about 23 percent Yashkun, while the rest of the population made ​​up of smaller tribes. The people who came from Kashmir, lives in the town center. Minorities in Juglot are the Karamin, Marotche and Pashtuns.
