Jukka Tiensuu

Jukka Tiensuu ( born August 30, 1948 in Helsinki) is a Finnish composer, harpsichordist, conductor and pianist.

Jukka Tiensuu received his musical education in Helsinki, Freiburg and New York. As a performer he plays a wide repertoire from early music to avant-garde and free improvisation. Tiensuu has performed in most European countries, North America and Japan. In addition, he has given master classes in Baroque performance practice as well as in the interpretation of contemporary music. Tiensuu has also worked at IRCAM, the Parisian center for electroacoustic music.

Jukka Tiensuus List as a composer includes both pieces for large orchestra and electro-acoustic music, chamber music, and works for jazz band, early music ensembles as well as solo instruments, including for the Finnish kantele instrument.
