Jules Merviel

Jules Merviel ( born September 29, 1906 in Saint- Beauzély; † September 1, 1976 in Carqueiranne ) was a French cyclist.

Career

As early as 1926 Merviel was second road World Championships in Milan. He was professional from 1929 to 1944, changed every year the team for which he drove in 1933 even twice. An exception was the French cycling team Mercier - Hutchinson, where he had from 1938 to 1944 a driver contract. He moved only in French teams. As a professional Jules Merviel drove race in France / Paris. An exception was in 1930 a cycling race in Yverdon in Switzerland; he won. His greatest success was probably in 1933, however, the victory in Paris -Tours

Tour de France

Merviel drove several times the Tour de France; 1929 ( 23 ) for the first time. In 1930 he won the 7th stage from Bordeaux to Hendaye. In 1935, he met with the 12th stage from Cannes to Marseille with a truck together and seriously injured.
