Julia Bacha

Julia Bacha (* 1980 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian documentary filmmaker, who is known in particular for their contribution to the documentary Encounter Point, Control Room and Budrus.

Bacha grew up in Brazil and moved in 1998 to New York to study at Columbia University history and politics of the Middle East. For her graduation in 2003 she was awarded the Phi Beta Kappa Award.

Bacha is an employee of Just Vision, an organization that is committed to a nonviolent resolution of the Palestinian conflict. Bacha serving in different capacities leader with several documentaries on issues of the Middle East. Here she worked with often together with Ronit Avni.

Control Room is a documentary about the television station Al Jazeera and its relationship to the United States Central Command ( CENTCOM ) during the Iraq invasion. The documentary was directed Jehane Noujaim and the Egyptian Bacha worked on screenplay and editing.

In Encounter Point then led along with Ronit Avni and even directing. This documentation describes the impact of the conflict on the lives of 16 Israeli and Palestinian families.

In Budrus led them again to direct myself. This movie describes the violent resistance of the Palestinian village of Budrus against the construction management of the Israeli border wall that threatened to cut off the village from his fields.
