Julia Lermontova

Julija Vsevolodovna Lermontowa (Russian Юлия Всеволодовна Лермонтова, scientific transliteration Julija Vsevolodovna Lermontova; born December 21 1846jul / January 2 1847greg in Saint Petersburg, .. † December 16, 1919 in Moscow) was a Russian chemist and the first woman to received his doctorate in chemistry.

Lermontowa performed her doctoral thesis on " to knowledge of the methylene compounds " in Berlin with August Wilhelm von Hofmann; the doctorate in 1874 in Göttingen under Friedrich Wöhler, Hans Hübner and Johann Benedict Listing in viva and is rated magna cum laude.

She was friends with Sofya Kovalevskaya.

2003 Julija Lermontowa was honored in Göttingen with a plaque on the historic chemical Institute ( SN - house).
