Life

Julia Quinn grew up primarily in New England, but spent even after the divorce of her parents in California. From childhood she was an avid reader and devoured include " The Chronicles of Narnia " by Lewis. As she grew older, she began to the chagrin of her father to read love stories for teenagers. To be allowed to continue to read this, she told him that it would be research, because they themselves wanted to write such stories. Then she wrote the first two chapters of a novel, which she completed it three years later and einschickte in one evening. However, he was rejected by the editors of the Sweet Dreams series ( love stories for teenagers).

In her final year at Harvard University Quinn stated that she did not know what to do with her bachelor's degree in art history. Finally, she decided to become a doctor. But in order to be accepted at a " medical school ," she had to sign up for extra courses. During this time she began writing Regency romance novels. When she finally had to choose between studying at Yale University, and Columbia University to its first two novels Splendid and Dancing At Midnight subject of a dispute between two publishing houses had become. This Quinn received more money for their novels than usual at first works usual and she decided to postpone their studies to continue to write. After three published novels and three more that should appear soon, Julia Quinn took her medical studies at Yale, but what they gave up after a few months back in order to devote himself entirely to writing.

She currently lives with her husband in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.

Work

Quinn's novels quickly gained many fans because of their easy humor and their witty dialogues. The plot is less driven by external events as of the main characters. The fact that Quinn's heroines are more modern and feminist than would be expected by women from the Regency period, gives their stories vibrancy and facilitates the identification with the characters.

Some book titles are based on movie titles. The title " How to Marry a Marquis " based on an idea of the author Candice Hern Regency, which was inspired by the movie " How to marry a Millionaire ". Since she could not even use him, Quinn allowed to exploit their idea. Its publisher was thrilled and so her next novel of "Starry Night" was renamed " To Catch an Heiress ". Thus, the title is based on " To Catch a Thief". Even the titles " The Duke and I" ( " The king and I") and "The Viscount Who Loved Me" ("The Spy who loved me" ) one notices their relationship to the corresponding movie titles.
