Julian Fałat

Julian Fałat ( born July 30, 1853 in Tuligłowy near Lemberg, † July 19, 1929 in Bystra near Bielsko -Biała) was a Polish painter and watercolorist.

Fałat studied under Władysław Luszczkiewicz at the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts, then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In 1885, he made ​​numerous trips to Europe and Asia. Then he made a trip around the world and let his impressions in his romantic work incorporated. In a hunting residence of the Prince Anton Radziwill of (1833-1904) in Nieswiez he learned in 1886 the Prussian Prince Wilhelm know whose invitation to the hunting lodge Hubertus floor in the Schorfheide he followed several times. From 1889 he worked as a court painter of the now Emperor Wilhelm II in Berlin. He created nature studies, true history images with high contrast expression, still life, animal figures and especially winter images

In 1895 he returned to Krakow and was appointed professor of art. In Fałats late work, the colors and forms disintegrated over time; he took on the style of painting of the French Impressionists. Furthermore, the winter remained his main theme. He reformed the Kraków School of Art, introduced new teaching methods due to its impressionistic experience and taught this at the Art Academy Cracow as professor of art that bears his name since 1900.
