Julian Grenfell, 3rd Baron Grenfell

Julian Pascoe Francis St Leger Grenfell, 3rd Baron Grenfell (* May 23, 1935 in London) is a peer of the Labour Party in the House of Lords. He is known for his pro-European views. Although he is Erbpeer ( Hereditary Peer ), he was appointed in 2000 as Baron Grenfell of Kilvey for Life Peer.

Youth and Education

He attended Eton College and studied at King's College, Cambridge, where he graduated with a BA. He is president of the Cambridge Union.

His military service, he graduated in 1954 at the Kings Royal Rifle Corps ( 60th Rifles ). In 1962 he became a captain in the Queen's Royal Rifles.

Political career

Lord Grenfell drew for the first time in 1976 in the House of Lords; He was from 2002 to 2008 Principal Deputy Chairman of Committees and Deputy Speaker, Chairman of the Select Committee on the European Union and from 2003 to 2007 Member of Procedure Committee.

He was a member of the following cross-party working groups: from 2002 Kroationgruppe Secretary, Vice-Chairman 2005-07 France group and from 2006 Secretary of Belgiengruppe.

He was 1997-99 member of the British delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of the European Union and president of the Anglo - Belgian Society.

Non - political career

From 1960 to 1963 he was a presenter on ATV (London), 1963-1964 freelance journalist and worked from 1965 to 1995 at the World Bank in New York and Paris.
