Julie Campbell Tatham

Julie Tatham ( born June 1, 1908 in Flushing as Julie Campbell, † July 7, 1999 in Alexandria, New York) was an American writer who became popular by various youth book series. Your most popular YA series was Trixie Belden.

Julie Campbell was the daughter of an American Army officer, with whom she traveled a lot in her childhood. At the age of eight, she won a writing contest.

On March 30, 1933, she married Charles Tatham Jr., with whom she co-wrote for numerous magazines and also wrote short stories. In the 40s she had her own publishing agency. When the great publisher Western Publishing was looking for affordable authors for youth book series, she applied for a total of four series, including Trixie Belden, of which she wrote herself two and two further their own authors Hal Burton and Henry Cutler left.

Under her birth name Julie Campbell then published at Western Publishing during the years 1948-1956 the two series Ginny Gordon and Trixie Belden. During this time she also took over the series Cherry Ames and Vicki Barr, but these were published under her married name Julie Tatham.

After she had written six volumes of the highly successful series Trixie Belden, they sold the rights to the characters of Western Publishing, which could be continued in the series of ghostwriters. After that Campbell did not occur as a writer in appearance.

She died a widow at the age of 91 years in Alexandria in the U.S. state of New York.
