Julie Umerle

Julie Umerle (* in Connecticut, United States) is an English painter.

Life and work

Julie Umerle was born in the U.S. as the daughter of an English mother and an American father. At five years old, the family moved to London. She studied French literature at the University of Sussex and graduated from the University College Falmouth in Cornwall, England and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts. In 1998 she completed her Master of Fine Arts at Parsons The New School for Design, USA. She worked from 1998 to 2003 in London and New York.

Umerle won three awards from the Arts Council England (2009, 2007 and 2005 ) and an award from the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation in New York in 2001.

Umerle has her paintings exhibited extensively in Europe and the United States, including exhibitions at the Royal Academy of Arts, at Christie's, the Barbican Centre and Art Basel Miami Beach. Your Work can be seen in many public and private collections. She lives and works in London.
