Julius Bergmann

Julius Bergmann ( born April 1, 1839 in Opherdicke at Holzwickede; † August 24, 1904 in Marburg ) was a German philosopher.

Life

Bergmann studied mathematics and philosophy at the Georg -August- University of Göttingen, Friedrich- Wilhelms- University of Berlin. Since 1860 he was a member of the Corps Teutonia Göttingen.

In 1872 he was appointed as Professor of Philosophy at the Albertus University of Königsberg and 1875 at the University of Marburg. At the turn of the 19th to the 20th century he was regarded as the most important representative of an idealistic epistemology and metaphysics.
