Julius Meinl I.

Julius Meinl I. ( born April 10, 1824 in Graslitz, Bohemia, † December 24, 1914 in Vienna ) was an Austrian businessman.

Julius Meinl was born the son of a master baker Anton Meinl and his wife Anna Dotzauer in house No. 609 in Graslitz and baptized a Catholic on 12 April 1824. His Meinl - grandfather was a master baker in Graslitz.

He served an apprenticeship in the color of an uncle 's shop in Prague. In 1862 he opened at Vienna's meat market its first store and sold as " freshly roasted coffee ." 14 years later, in 1876, he was bankrupt and discovered in 1877 with the commercial coffee roasting a gap in the market, opened in 1891, the first Röstfabrik.

In 1913 he was his son Julius Meinl II already passed a branch network that stretched across Europe.
