Julius Otto Grimm

Life

After completing his studies in philology and philosophy at the University of Dorpat, where he graduated in 1848 with the exam, he began his career as a tutor in Saint Petersburg. At the same time he composed the first works. It was followed by another study in Dresden in 1851 / 52. In 1855 he took a job as a music teacher and choir conductor in Göttingen. Five years later he was started in 1860 to replace the conductors of the Musikverein Münster. As of 1878, Grimm worked as a lecturer in music theory and singing in Munster and also directed several music clubs. During his 40 - year career in Münster, he received numerous honors and appointments.
