Julius Otto Grimm

Julius Otto Grimm (born 22 Februarjul / March 6 1827greg in Pärnu / Livonia; .. † December 7, 1903 in Münster ( Westphalia ) ) was a German composer and conductor, who was long in Münster, Westphalia.

Life

After completing his studies in philology and philosophy at the University of Dorpat, where he graduated in 1848 with the exam, he began his career as a tutor in Saint Petersburg. At the same time he composed the first works. It was followed by another study in Dresden in 1851 / 52. In 1855 he took a job as a music teacher and choir conductor in Göttingen. Five years later he was started in 1860 to replace the conductors of the Musikverein Münster. As of 1878, Grimm worked as a lecturer in music theory and singing in Munster and also directed several music clubs. During his 40 - year career in Münster, he received numerous honors and appointments.
