Julius Urgiß

Julius Urgiß, Julius Urgiss ( born August 6 1873 in Anklam, † March 12, 1948 in New York City ) was a German screenwriter.

Life

He began as a writer of various literary contributions. At the Berlin film trade magazine The cinematograph, he worked as a senior journalist and wrote film reviews. From him comes a biography of the silent film star Henny Porten.

1918 began his career as a screenwriter. From 1919 on, he cooperated seven years with the colleague Max Jungk, 1928 he formed with Frederick Raff a tandem. Urgiß supplied for the cinema comedy, drama, history, material and literary adaptations. After the seizure of power by the Nazis in 1933, he emigrated from Germany and lived most recently in New York.
