Junges Klangforum Mitte Europa

The Young Sound Forum of Central Europe ( engl. Young Sound Forum of Central Europe) is a tri-national European Youth Orchestra, made ​​up of young musicians from Poland, Czech Republic and Germany.

Objectives

The goal of the Young Sound Forum of Central Europe is the revival of the cultural landscape of the three countries Poland, Czech Republic and Germany. The orchestra brings together the young musicians of the three nations to concerts at historically significant sites. Apart from the classical repertoire, Young Sound Forum of Central Europe has also prescribed the new music to perform pieces by composers who were ostracized during the period of National Socialism. The orchestra aims to contribute to reconciliation and understanding between Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany in a musical way.

History

The orchestra was founded in 2002 by conductor Christoph Altstaedt and the cultural manager Holger Simon. Simon was also from 2002 to 2007 Managing Director of the orchestra.

This ensemble initially consisted of former members of the National Youth Orchestra and performed under the name " Young Sound Forum of German. " After a joint project with young Czech musicians in Terezin the idea of ​​a longer-term musical partnership between the two nations was formed. On the initiative of Richard von Weizsäcker, then the Young Sound Forum of Central Europe was founded.

The patrons of the orchestra are Richard von Weizsäcker, Lech Wałęsa and Václav Havel.

For his musical achievements and contributions to international understanding in Europe, the orchestra with the Praemium Imperiale in 2004, the Marion Dönhoff Prize in 2005 and the European Youth Orchestra Prize 2006 was awarded.

The artistic director is Christoph Altstaedt. Guest conductors were, inter alia, Krzysztof Penderecki, Sebastian Weigle and Tang Muhai. Concert tours have taken the Young Sound Forum of Central Europe by Europe and Japan.
