Juozas TÅ«belis

Juozas Tūbelis ( born April 9, 1882 in Ilgalaukiai at Rokiškis, † September 30, 1939 in Kaunas) was Lithuanian politician and Prime Minister.

Biography

1908 graduated from Juozas Tūbelis the Agronomiefakultät the Polytechnic Institute in Riga and then worked as a teacher in Riga. During World War II, he fought as a soldier on the side of Russia.

November 11, 1918 Tūbelis was Minister of Agriculture. This office he had five months later - on March 12, 1919 - leave again, but it was up to the June 19, 1920 Minister of Education. In the presidential dictatorship President of Lithuania Antanas Smetona, the on April 12, 1927 dissolved the Parliament after the coup of 17 December 1926, it proved 1938 Lithuanian Finance Minister on 3 May 1927 to 24 March. On September 23, 1929, he was also still for three terms Prime Minister, before resigning on 24 March 1938. He then worked again until October 1, 1938 as Minister of Agriculture and conducted 1938/39, the Bank of Lithuania.

Tūbelis was a member of the party Pažangos partija and 1931-1938 Chairman of the Party Lietuvos tautininkų sąjunga.

Tūbelis is buried in Kaunas.
