Jurek Dybal

Biography

Dybal began double bass studies in the School of Music under Prof. Gerard Przybyła Bytom, where he graduated with distinction in 1996, and continued in 2001 to study at the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw in the class of Prof. Andrzej Mysiński continued. In addition, he attended master classes, orchestral workshops and private lessons with Alois Posch, Klaus Stoll, Gary Karr, Franco Petracchi, Esko Laine, Johannes Auersperg, Josef Niederhammer.

At the age of 15 he became the youngest member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, and was awarded a scholarship from the Yamaha Foundation of Europe, after he won the audition for all strings. His work as an orchestral musician took him from Warsaw / Poland, where he played under Sir Yehudi Menuhin and Krzysztof Penderecki 1997-2001 as a vocal leader in the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra, about the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra (2001-2003) and at the Vienna State Opera Orchestra in 2003, where he holds the position of section leader in the bass section since 2006. He also played as a substitute in Polish orchestras and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Furthermore Dybal was one of the founding members of the International Gustav Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Claudio Abbado which established. As a soloist and chamber musician he has performed in part at the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin, the Polish Chamber Orchestra, the Wratislavia Orchestra, the Concerto Avenna, the Vienna Virtuosi, the Piano Quintet in Vienna, Munich Septet, the Prima Vista Quartet and the Silesian Quartet and played with Yuri Bashmet, Ernst Kovacic, Hagai Shaham, Michaela Ursulesa, Itamar Golan, Barry Douglas, Chee- Yun, Michel Lethiec, Frans Helmerson and Arto Noras. Jurek Dybal concerted at the festival in Aix en Provence, in Toujour Mozart in Vienna and Salzburg, the Chopin Festival, the Festival de Pablo Casals in Prades, in the Théâtre des Champs- Élysées and in Puerto Rico, at Music Isle of Jeju in Korea, or the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival in Warsaw.

He has made CDs for the Polish label DUX, as well as for Belgium and Japan RCP Camerata and played recordings for Polish television, the Polish Radio and Radio France. One of his chamber music CDs got the Fryderyk Prize of the Phonographic Industry of Poland and went platinum.

As a teacher Dybal gives master classes in France, Australia, Korea, Japan, Puerto Rico and Canada. His special focus is on early music and in this field he worked with La Stagione Frankfurt, Il Tempo Warsaw and Trevor Pinnock or Marc Minkowski together. His achievements were honored with the Phonographic Award for Early Music.

Another part of his musical activities are in the field of conducting. Dybal participated in master classes with Jorma Panula part and founded the Paderewski Chamber Orchestra, with whom he worked on European festivals and took a newfound Suite for strings of Ignacy Jan Paderewski as a world premiere. He also conducted the Bavarian Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra during a concert tour, which was dedicated to the composer Krzysztof Penderecki 's 70th birthday. Other orchestras that conducted the artists were the Kuopio City Symphony Orchestra and the Interregional European Orchestra.
