Jürg Marquard

Jürg Marquard ( born July 13, 1945 in Zurich ) is a Swiss publisher. He is the founder and owner of Marquard Media Group.

Life

Jürg Marquard grew up as the son of a dentist on in Zurich, where he went to school. During his school years he was active as a journalist. After passing the baccalaureate at the Business College of the Canton of Zurich School he launched in 1965 with borrowed by school friends in 2000 Swiss francs start-up capital, the youth magazine Pop and laid the foundation for its publisher and entrepreneur career. In addition to his work on the construction of the youth magazine Pop Jürg Marquard also worked as a radio and television presenter in the pop field.

After the founding period in which Jürg Marquard edited Pop himself, the magazine became increasingly commercial and established itself after several mergers with other German youth magazines as Pop / Rocky as the second- largest German youth magazine Bravo behind. 1998 Pop / Rocky was also merged with the publisher's own youth and music magazine Popcorn, which had established itself as the international umbrella brand for the youth magazine division of Marquard Media Group.

Breakthrough in the German magazine market managed Marquard in 1981 with the Cosmopolitan magazine.

Other activities and Private

Marquard since 1995, Honorary Consul General of Hungary in Switzerland. On December 12, 2005, he was the Hungarian government awarded the Commemorative Medal Pro Auxilio civium Hungarorum in recognition of his work as Honorary Consul General, and him the Medal of Honor hero of freedom was also awarded on 6 December 2006.

In spring 2005, Jürg Marquard was active as a co-producer and protagonist of the reality series Dream Job, a licensed version of Donald Trump's The Apprentice. This mission saw the highest odds on the first channel of the Swiss Television.

Jürg Marquard is married and the father of five children.
