Jürgen Degen

Jurgen Degen ( born November 7, 1967 in Hamburg ) is a former German football player and current coach.

Playing career

Jurgen Degen joined in 1991 by the Association division VfL 93 Hamburg in the Bundesliga for the newly crowned German champions 1.FC Kaiserslautern. On 31 August 1991, the striker completed his Bundesliga debut for the Palatinate. In the 3-0 home victory over 1.FC Nuremberg he was substituted in the 78th minute for Marcel Witeczek. Just two days later, game sword could accrue for the first time from the start and promptly scored a hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Borussia Dortmund. However, further bets and especially gates remained scarce. In the European Cup of Champions 1991/92, he retired with the Lauterern in the second round against eventual champions FC Barcelona. In the Bundesliga 1991/92 Degen managed with his club at least the fifth place in the table. In order to gain more match practice, the striker was loaned the following season in the Bundesliga relegation Fortuna Dusseldorf. In 24 games for the Fortuna he scored two goals while it was unable to prevent the direct further descent of the team. After Degens return to Kaiserslautern he came there only to seven other short inserts, also due to an injury to the patellar tendon.

After his temporary return to VfL 93 Hamburg has been committed by the Regional rivals Hannover 96 in December 1997, with whom he made ​​the ascent to the 2nd Bundesliga. The Hanoverian played a strong season in 1998/99 and placed at the end as a freshman in fourth place in the table. Jurgen Degen shot and a goal in seven games, but could never prevail against the many competitors on his position himself, and changed already during the winter break for third division side SV Meppen. As a result, Degen played one season for the football clubs TuS Dassendorf, SC forward Wacker 04 and Meiendorfer SV in his Hamburg home. From 2003 until his retirement in late 2005, the striker was still working for the football section of the HSV Barmbek- Uhlenhorst. There he was involved with seven goals in 16 games instrumental in the rise of the sovereign Association League Hamburg. The following season, he completed again 33 games for his club in the Football Oberliga Nord.

Coaching career
