Jurij Koch

Jurij Koch ( born September 15, 1936 in Horka ) is a Sorbian writer (ie Upper Sorbian and Lower Sorbian ) wrote his works in German and Sorbian languages.

Life

The son of a Sorbian stone worker's family went into Crostwitz, to high school in Varnsdorf (Czechoslovakia ) and in Bautzen to school. In Cottbus, he completed his high school education. Subsequently, he studied in Leipzig from 1956 to 1960 Journalism and postgraduate 1961-1966 theater arts. After that was cooking editor and reporter for the radio and from 1976 a freelance writer. He is a member of the PEN center of Germany.

Cooking theme in his works again and again, problems of lignite mining and the associated destruction of landscape and home.

Today Koch lives in the village Sielow in Cottbus, Lower Lusatia. He is married and has three children.
