Justin (Moesia)

Justin (Greek Ἰουστίνος Iustinos; † 528) was a general of the Eastern Roman Empire, the First under the reign of Justinian ( reign 527-565 ) as the commander of the Danube Limes served in Moesia Secunda.

Life

Justin is mentioned 528 as " Stratelates of Moesia ". He probably bore the title of Dux Moesiae Secundae and had the rank of magister militum. He led his troops along with those of Baduarius, Dux of Scythia Minor to fend off a group of foreign invaders, the John Malalas referred to as " Huns " while Theophanes calls Bulgarians. Justin was killed in battle. He was succeeded in his office Constantiolus.
