Justin Tubb

Justin Wayne Tubb ( born August 20, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas, † January 24, 1998 in Nashville, Texas) was an American country musician and songwriter. He is the eldest son of legendary country singer Ernest Tubb.

Life

Childhood

His childhood was spent Justin Tubb most of the time with his mother Elaine, who settled in 1948 divorce from Ernest Tubb, Texas. Actually the young Tubb wanted to be a sports reporter, but music has always interested him. As a constant spectator of the Louisiana Hayride and witness the final show Hank Williams before he died, he learned early to play guitar.

Career

Tubbs professional career as a musician began when he moved to Nashville, Tennessee and appeared in clubs and bars. He followed the advice of his father and DJ was in Gallatin, where he also presented his own songs from time to time. In 1953 he was awarded with the label of his father Ernest, Decca Records, a record contract. His first single, Story Of My Life was released in October 1953. Initially had his solo recordings only little success. With Goldie Hill he had first then a chart success. Their song Looking Back To See reached the top five on the Billboard charts; followed by Sure Fire Kisses. In 1956 he reached eighth place on the charts with the Marvin Rainwater - Cover I Gotta Go Get My Baby.

A year earlier he was a member of the Grand Ole Opry, the most famous and successful radio show USA, become. In the early 1960s, signed with Starday Tubb. From the Opry, he was briefly excluded because he did not meet the required level of appearances on the show because of its tours. In 1963 he moved to RCA Victor, where he had his last chart entry with But Wait There's More. He stepped further into the Opry on, toured and released singles, but his most successful period as a singer was over. As a composer, but he was left with much more success. Stars such as Hawkshaw Hawkins ( Lonesome 7-7203 ) and Del Reeves ( Be Glad ) took on his songs and were successful.
