K. Ludwig Pfeiffer

K. Ludwig Pfeiffer ( born February 23, 1944 in Dietersheim, Middle Franconia ) is a German literature, media and cultural studies scholar. Besides his own publications, he is the editor and co-editor of 14 volumes with different research areas.

Life and development

From 1963 to 1967 he studied English, Romance languages ​​and philosophy, after the first state examination (second state examination 1969) also German, at the University of Würzburg. There he received his doctorate in 1973 with a language and philosophy of science work for text interpretation. In 1977 he completed his habilitation at the University of Konstanz with an awareness theoretically oriented work on the function history of the English novel in the 19th century, especially the novels George Meredith, for the subjects of English and Literary Studies. His scientific development is mainly in the transformation of literary studies models in media, mentalities and cultural history configurations, which in turn lead to anthropological questions.

In 1978 he became a professor of English at the Ruhr- University Bochum, 1979 Professor of English and Literary Studies at the University of Siegen, where he retired in 2009. 2007-2011 he taught at the Jacobs University Bremen, was professor emeritus at the 2011. As a visiting professor, Distinguished Visiting Professor and Fellow he taught and conducted research at a number of U.S. (including Harvard University, Stanford University, University of California, Irvine and Santa Cruz ), Japanese, Brazilian and German universities.
