Kaba Group

Kaba Holding AG is a Swiss group of companies in the security industry based in Zürich. The company is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange. The heirs of the former owner Leo Bodmer ( 1880-1961 ) still hold 15.5 % of shares.

The Kaba Group is one of the largest providers in the security industry worldwide. It has approximately 7400 employees operating in more than 60 countries and generated sales of 945.2 million Swiss francs in the financial year 2010/2011.

Its main activities are Access Data Systems, which includes mechanical and mechatronic locking systems, time and data acquisition, electronic access control and hotel locks. Other industries are Industrial Locks and Key Systems.

History

The company in 1862 by Franz Bauer was founded as a locksmith and cash register factory in Zurich. In 1915 it was taken over by Leo Bodmer and the establishment of the Bauer AG. The inventor and tinkerer Fritz Schori invented in 1934 the first cylinder lock with reversible key. Bauer AG let patented the invention and named the castle after the company founder Franz Bauer, who is popularly known as cash Bauer - short Kaba - was known.

2008 Kaba received for the newly developed identification technology RCID the " Security Innovation Award" in gold.

2011 Door Automation segment was sold to the Japanese Nabtesco group.

2011 Kaba acquired the German -based company e-Data, a specialist in web-based solutions that combine access control and time and attendance.
