Kadra Yusuf

Kadra Yusuf or Kadra Noor (born 16 June 1980) is a Somali- Norwegian activist. She leads a Somali Women's Association in Norway.

In 2000, she researched in the Somali Community in Norway about the spread of female circumcision. They revealed that many Norwegian imams advocate this common practice in Somalia. Then a statutory prohibition of circumcision was introduced, and Kadra was honored with the Fritt Ord Award for freedom of expression. She has since lived hidden.

In April 2007, she called for a new interpretation of the Koran, the Muslim women's rights should be considered. A few days later she was attacked in Oslo by a group of male and female Somali immigrants and thereby suffered broken ribs. The attackers cited during the attack suras of the Koran and accused Kadra the denigration of the same. The Norwegian Islamic Council condemned the attack. Two suspects were arrested.
