Kadyrbek Sarbayev

Kadyrbek Sarbajew ( Kyrgyz and Russian Кадырбек Тельманович Сарбаев / Kadyrbek Telmanowitsch Sarbajew; born December 9, 1966 in Frunze, now Bishkek, Kyrgyz SSR, Soviet Union ) is a Kyrgyz diplomat and politician. He was from January 2009 until the coup in April 2010, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan.

Kadyrbek Sarbajew studied at the Far Eastern State University in Vladivostok. From 1992 he worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan. From 1993 to 1996 he worked at his country's embassy in Beijing. In 1996 he returned to the Foreign Ministry, where he led the Consular Section in 1997. From 1999 to 2001, he was Counsellor of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Berlin between 2001 and 2003, the Embassy in Beijing. From 2003 to 2004 he was head of the department for relations with the countries of Eastern Asia at the State Department, 2004-2007 National Coordinator of the Foreign Ministry for Affairs of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. From 2005 Sarbajew was also deputy foreign minister of his country. Prior to his appointment as foreign minister in January 2009, he most recently served as Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan in Beijing from 2007. With the overthrow of the Bakiyev regime by the opposition in April 2010 Sarbajews ended tenure as foreign minister.
