Ednan Karabayev

Ednan Oskonowitsch Karabajew ( born January 17, 1953 in Talas ) is a Kyrgyz politician and diplomat. He was from 1992 to 1993 and from 2007 to 2009 Minister of Foreign Affairs of his country.

Karabajew closed in 1975 to study history at the Kyrgyz State University from. He has the academic degree of candidate of historical sciences and the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Prior to his diplomatic career Karabajew worked as a history teacher in Frunze, now Bishkek. In addition, he was active in the Soviet Komsomol organization and staff of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR. From 1981 he worked full time in the organs of the Komsomol and the Communist Party. From 1990 he was head of the Kyrgyz presidential administration and held that post even after gaining the independence of the Kyrgyz Republic continues as Secretary of State from. At the same time he was elected to the Schogorku Kenesh, the Kyrgyz Parliament held. In December 1992 he was appointed foreign minister. He held that post at first only a year out in 1994 and was Professor and Vice-Rector for International Relations of the Kyrgyz- Russian Slavic University. On 8 February 2007 he was Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan for the second time and held this office until 26 January 2009.
